Project Summary: CHRIS 180 and The Summit will enhance and expand comprehensive treatment, early intervention, and recovery support services for three groups: adolescents (ages 13-17), transitional aged youth (ages 18-24), and their families/primary caregivers with substance use disorders (SUD) and/or co-occurring substance use and mental disorders (COD) in the Heroin Triangle in north metro Atlanta. Project Name: North Atlanta TREEtment Services Population to be Served: The partners will serve youth ages 13-24 and their families/primary caregivers with substance use disorders (SUD) and/or co-occurring substance use and mental disorders (COD) who lack insurance coverage for treatment. The geographic area will encompass hot spots in north metro Atlanta (the Heroin Triangle) and will primarily serve young people with heroin and opioid use disorders. Strategies/Interventions: CHRIS 180 and The Summit will use a team approach wherein The Summit will offer intervention and recovery services, and CHRIS 180 will provide an intensive outpatient (IOP) day treatment program. The partners will employ the High Fidelity Wraparound (WRAP) process. A family-centered team develops a needs-driven service plan based on the strengths and culture of the participants, and helps them access holistic and comprehensive services to meet their goals. Evidence-based practices will include: Trauma-informed care, Matrix Model, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Thinking for a Change, and Functional Family Therapy for Adolescent Alcohol and Drug Abuse as well as Grief Recovery Method. Project Goals and Measurable Objectives: The partners will: 1) Increase the unduplicated number of individuals served with evidence-based services and practices; 2) Increase participants’ abstinence from the use of heroin, opioids, alcohol, and other illicit drugs; 3) Increase participants’ access to treatment for 100% of participants, and increase engagement and completion to 80% of participants; 4) 85% of families will show improvement in family functioning and parenting skills; 5) 85% of the engaged participants will demonstrate improved educational and/or employment status, and 100% of those homeless with be safely housed within 90 days of entering and engaging in the program; 6) Decrease participants’ involvement in and exposure to crime and violence; 7) 85% of engaged participants will demonstrate improvement in mental health; and 8) Increase participants’ access to health services. 90% of the engaged participants will have a medical home or an identified primary health provider. The partners propose to provide treatment and services to 450 unduplicated youth (50 youth in year 1 and 100/annually thereafter) and approximately 350 family members (approximately 70 family members annually) during the project period.
