WARD 1 & 2 SPF-PFS - The National African American Drug Policy Coalition, Inc. (NAADPC) will implement the SAMHSA SPF PFS program to address local substance use prevention concerns, such as marijuana and opioid use and vaping in Wards 1 and 2 in the District of Columbia. The Wards 1 and 2 SPF PFS project will build and strengthen the capacity of local community prevention providers in Wards 1 and 2 of the District of Columbia. The goals are to: (1) help prevent and reduce the initiation and progression of substance use and its related problems by supporting the development and delivery of community-based substance use prevention services that strengthen protective factors, reduce risk factors, build resilience, and promote well-being, (2) expand and strengthen the capacity of local community prevention providers, and (3) implement evidenced-based, evidenced- informed, and community-defined evidenced-based prevention strategies. The target population data is 165,929. The total number of youths is 28,208 for indirect services which is 17% of the total population. Over the lifetime of the project, 300 youth will be served in direct prevention services.
