The Alabama Coushatta Tribe of Texas and the Chief Kina Health Clinic is seeking support of its behavioral health program through funding announcement SP-20-002 2020 Strategic Prevention Framework - Partnership of Success. The Behavioral Health program along with Strategic Prevention Framework - Partnership for Success will engage in providing the tools necessary to our tribal adult ages 26 and older and their families to prevent and reduce misuse and excessive alcohol consumption through the We Ha Til Kamo Ko Lik Aloh Chi Program which means All of Us Together We Are Strong in the Alabama Language. There are approximately 377 enrolled tribal adult citizens within the target population, this program seeks to service 25% of those citizens and families over the course of five years. The goal of this project is to increase prevention activities that will reduce the misuse and excessive alcohol use, including binge drinking, as well as reduce the risk of chronic conditions such as liver disease, elevated blood pressure, heart disease and other related health factors among the target population. Over the course of the five year project, the Alabama Coushatta Tribe of Texas, Chief Kina Health Clinic and its partners will ensure that alcohol abuse prevention issues are addressed and implemented, coordinate and support the training in the area of peer to peer services with the use of community members. And work with the Tribal Coalition Committee to provide oversight and input for the program, and work with Tribal agencies that provide services to adults in implementing a comprehensive community prevention/early intervention program for alcohol abuse, and initiate the process of planning an action plan for the tribal community.
