The Lake County Partnership for Success Project takes a collaborative approach to prevent the onset and reduce the progression of underage drinking among persons aged 9 to 20 as well as prescription drug misuse by individuals ages 9 and above. The project will be implemented throughout Lake County, with an estimated population of 484,411, 24.5% Black or African American and 9.8% Hispanic or Latino. Annually the project will reach 396,623 youth and adults, and over 1,983,000 throughout the life of the project. The Lake County Partnership for Success Project will be working to achieve the following goals and objectives: Goal 1: Reduce underage drinking in Lake County by implementing evidence-based strategies within the communities that address behaviors about drinking. Objective 1: Decrease the past 30-day alcohol use by 12th graders by 11% from 29.3% to 18.3% Objective 2: Decrease the number of 6th graders that reported ever using alcohol by 50% from 8.1% to 4.1% Goal 2: Reduce prescription drug misuse and abuse in Lake County by implementing evidence-based strategies within the communities that address beliefs and behaviors of prescription drug misuse and abuse. Objective 3: Decrease the past 30-day prescription drug abuse among 10th graders by half to 1.9% from 3.8% Objective 4: Decrease the number of 10th graders that reported ever misusing Rx by half to 2.5% from 5.0% Goal 3: Reduce misperceptions around the perceived risks of alcohol and prescription drug abuse and misuse among youth and young adults through social norms campaigns for youth, young adults, and families. Objective 5: Increase the perceived risk of daily alcohol consumption in 6th graders by 15% from 55.5% to 70.5% Objective 6: Increase the perceived risk of Rx misuse in 6th grade students by 15% from 70.3% to 85.3% Objective 7: Decrease the percentage of 8th graders getting alcohol from a parent/guardian by 15% from 35.3% to 20.3% Goal 4: Enhance and sustain program infrastructure across Lake County to prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance misuse. Objective 8: A minimum of 75% of a 9-person community mobilizing team will be trained in strategy. Objective 9: 3 individuals successfully complete the Too Good for Drugs Train the Trainer training. Objective 10: Increase the number of school personnel trained to implement the Too Good for Drugs program.
