LEAD Phillipsburg: Learn, Educate, Advocate, Develop Drug Free Community Coalition - The Joseph Firth Youth Center serves as the fiscal agent for LEAD Phillipsburg: Learn, Educate, Advocate, Develop Drug Free Community Coalition, a community coalition that is committed to reducing substance use for youth in Phillipsburg, NJ and the five surrounding sending school districts which include Lopatcong, Pohatcong, Alpha, Greenwich and Stewartsville all located in Warren County. The Coalition is focused on decreasing underage drinking, tobacco and marijuana use among these youth. LEAD Phillipsburg Community Coalition works collaboratively to build capacity and demonstrate leadership to effectively integrate prevention and environmental strategies to decrease underage drinking, tobacco and marijuana use among youth and implement a comprehensive action plan. The estimated number of people to be served is 8,000 each year of the funded five year project.
The coalition includes school personnel, community members, parents and students and representatives from the twelve sectors to address youth substance use. In addition, LEAD Phillipsburg will have extensive youth involvement including youth leaders, volunteers and ambassadors ages 12-17 from the targeted schools to impact community level change.
