The primary goals under the DFC project are to increase community collaboration and reduce youth substance use of alcohol and marijuana. To increase community collaboration, the coalition will work to recruit new coalition members, participate in community awareness activities, and build the capacity of coalition members through education on youth substance use and the Strategic Prevention Framework. The coalition aims to decrease youth (11-18 year olds) 30-day alcohol and marijuana use by 1% for the 2020-2021 school year. The coalition will work to accomplish this by providing ALL STARS educational prevention program to Westside Middle School (WMS) youth, implementing social hosting and positive social norms campaigns in both WMS and Apalachee High School (AHS), and arranging in-school activities to educate youth on the harmful effects of alcohol and marijuana use. To ensure these activities are carried out, the coalition will contract with an independent evaluator to monitor and assess the goals and objectives identified in the 12-month Action Plan. The evaluation team will assess the process evaluation data through a monthly milestone chart. Youth substance use (i.e. outcome data) will be assessed through pretest- posttest surveys and other data collection instruments. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for organizing the project's activities and communicating progress to the coalition.
