Gardiner Area Substance Misuse Prevention Coalition: Creating Communities where Youth Thrive (Gardiner Area Thrives) - Gardiner Area Thrives (GAT) is a coalition of people and organizations creating communities where youth thrive. It is focused on both changing community norms in the 4 communities that make up the local school district (MSAD#11) and engaging youth 18 and under, to reduce youth use of alcohol and marijuana. • GAT focuses on positive norms as a way to reduce youth use of alcohol & marijuana, and engages parents, community members and organizations, town leadership, and schools in a range of supportive activities. • Activities include Education/Awareness: Individual Strategies to Provide Information: Enhance Skills Provide Support • And Environmental Strategies for the Entire Community Enhance Access/Reduce Barriers Change Consequences Change Physical Design Modify/Change Policies GAT is also involved in activities to promote the coalition, and engagement more people in the efforts
