SALT is a diverse partnership of agencies and community resources working together to reduce substance abuse and use among community youth. Through information sharing, prevention efforts including education, outreach, evidence-based curricula, and community collaborations, we seek to make lasting change.
SALT partners provides bi-monthly outreach within the catchment areas, and intervention trainings to school districts and those working and volunteering with youth. The purpose of SALT’s outreach efforts focuses on prevention, but also collateral situations that may lead to use. Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselors, Certified Prevention Specialists, Social Workers, and numerous other boots on the ground human servants collaborate on prevention activities including sticker shocks, prevention forums, and the annual National Night Out Against Crime. Additionally, one member is the Chair of the Sullivan County Youth Bureau. Other SALT members include local Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, a strong prevention partner, State Senator Jen Metzger, and the Sullivan County Legislature.
