Osage Nation Project Wahoi^ (Respect for Life) - ONPP proposes to launch Project Wahoi^ (Respect for life), a SAMHSA SPF initiative aimed at developing strategies built on the voices of the youth and families in the community to: 1) reduce the use of alcohol; 2) strengthen prevention services through collaborative partnerships with Oklahoma State/Tribal Epidemiology Outcomes Workgroup (STEOW), community agencies that serve youth; and 3) sustain a surveillance medium to better identify the communities with at risk youth families 4) implement a system of care for an effective and efficient means by which to serve AI/AN youth and young adults through the age of 9-20. Osage Nation target communities will be chosen based on assessment data. Our vision for healthier youth will be implemented using community driven and culturally based strategies that focus on a) all young people through ages 9-20, regardless of risk of substance use and misuse; b) subgroups of young people through age 9- 20 for whom substance use and misuse may be much higher than average; and c) young people through age 9- 20 who are at high risk for substance use and misuse.
