The purpose of the Town of Dedham: Dedham Organization for Substance Awareness Drug Free Communities Project is to reduce and prevent youth substance use. Short-term expected outcomes are a decrease in past 30-day alcohol use in grades 9-12 by 2%, an increase in youth risk perception of marijuana in grades 9-12 by 3%, an increase in parents locking up their alcohol by 6%, and an increase in prosocial youth involvement in grades 6-12 by 5%. Long-term expected outcomes are a policy implemented mandating in-person responsible beverage service training for businesses, a 50% decrease in home alcohol access for youth in grades 6-12, a 25% increase in marijuana risk perception in grades 9-12, and a 30% decrease in past 30-day use of both alcohol and marijuana in grades 9-12 by the end of DFC funding.
