The P.I.E.R.S coalition (previously called Substance Abuse Task Force) aims to eliminate substance use among youth, in particular alcohol and marijuana, through prevention education and by building connection and resiliency. We partner with community stakeholders and individuals to enhance skills of coalition members to be able to make change happen. We provide information about substance misuse, prevention, and recovery to the community and engage them in actively working to reduce substance use and its normalization. We work with our coalition members and other stakeholders to reduce barriers to access treatment and support, while undertaking projects that support knowledge and access to resources. We work to change consequences related to youth substance youth and make recommendations to our local government and businesses to make changes to the environment that promotes/encourages substance use. We strive to change policy, both locally and statewide, to better support healthy youth development without substance use.
