The Clay County Anti-Drug Coalition services Clay County, TN, a rural community with a population of 7717. Youth underage drinking, tobacco use and prescription drug abuse is the main focus of the coalition. The primary objectives of the coalition are to increase capacity, reduce the number of 6-12th grade students reporting they have use alcohol in the past 30 days and reduce the number of 6th-12th grade students reporting they have misused prescription drugs in the past 30 days.The coalition utilizes community billboards, print media, and local radio to keep the community informed of the coalition's initiatives and increase visibility of the coalition among Clay County residents. The Coalition participates in community events by distributing literature containing local youth substance use data, dangers and harms of youth alcohol use, and dangers of using prescription drugs for non-medical use.
