Drug Free Communities Support Program - The Dixie County Anti-Drug Coalition was awarded a FY 2019 Drug-Free Communities Support Program grant in the amount of $ 125,000.00 by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, in cooperation with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The Coalition serves Dixie County, Florida, a community of 16,700.
The goals of the coalition are to establish and strengthen community collaboration in support of local efforts to prevent youth substance use. The coalition will achieve its goals by implementing these strategies
1. Capacity building of the coalition with increased engagement of key leaders
2. Youth engagement in environmental strategies in the community to reduce alcohol, marijuana, tobacco, and vaping use.
3. Partnering with law enforcement, healthcare, treatment providers, faith-based, and community members to increase environmental strategies around youth access to alcohol, parent perception of harm, and youth perception of harm.
4. Youth led peer-to-peer social marketing campaigns.
