Together4Youth (TRY) focuses on preventing tobacco, alcohol, marijuana and opioid misuse among youth. Environmental strategies (providing information to advocacy) reduce risk factors and decrease likelihood of addition. TRY members represent the diversity of Durham, NC. TRY reaches over 2,000 youth and over 100,000 individuals each year. TRY uses the public health model to uncover the root cause of substance misuse among minors. TRY Champions of Change (coalition members) are active partners in all aspects of the coalition. Each sector member serves as a peer influencer. Youth, parents, young adult and adult sector representatives create an informed and trusted network. The TRY Good Neighbor Business Network includes over 400 alcohol outlets, tobacco shops, and restaurants that agree to follow laws regarding sales to minors and pharmacies, barbershops, salons, taxi services post prevention materials on a monthly basis.
