Round Valley Indian Health Center Shining the Light - Round Valley Indian Health Center will implement Shining the Light in Covelo, California, with Yuki Trails, Round Valley Unified School District, Tribal education, and community partners to promote the social and emotional development of school-aged youth through a three-tiered behavioral health framework. The project will address mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders through promotion, awareness, prevention, intervention, treatment, workforce training, and referral. An Advisory Board and Community Collaborative will guide needs assessment, resource mapping, strategic planning, evaluation, and sustainability. Strategies include CharacterStrong, WayFinder, QPR, safeTALK, Youth and Teen Mental Health First Aid, Project iGuardian, Restorative Practices Circles, prosocial activities, and SBIRT using ASQ, PHQ-9, and CRAFFT screening. Services will include crisis intervention, safety planning, care coordination, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Brainspotting, and connection to higher levels of care as needed. The project will strengthen behavioral health literacy and workforce capacity, promote positive school climate and resilience, develop screening and referral pathways, and increase access to school- and community-based supports and services.
