CCBC Thrive Well Campus Initiative: Integrated Suicide Prevention, Mental Health, and Substance Use Prevention Program - The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) will implement the Thrive Well Campus Initiative: Integrated Suicide Prevention, Mental Health, and Substance Use Prevention to strengthen prevention, early identification, crisis response, treatment access, recovery support, and continuous assessment across three campuses in Baltimore County, Maryland. The initiative will integrate institutional behavioral health supports with external resources to build capacity to serve more than 50,000 students at reduced or no cost, including veterans, adult learners, and first-generation students. Project goals are to increase the ability of staff, faculty, and students to recognize and respond to mental health crises, improve student awareness and help-seeking, and expand access to licensed counseling and mental health therapy to reduce risks of self-harm and substance use disorders. Measurable objectives include training 800 individuals in prevention or mental health promotion, exposing 30,000 individuals to mental health awareness messages through the learning management system, texts, social media, and campus signage, screening 100 individuals for suicidal ideation, referring 100 individuals to crisis or other mental health-related services for suicide risk, ideation, or behavior, and providing mental health services to 260 individuals.
