Falcons Rising: Building a Culture of Mental Health, Resilience and Suicide Prevention - Bowling Green State University (BGSU) will implement Falcons Rising: Building a Culture of Mental Health, Resilience and Suicide Prevention at its Bowling Green and Firelands campuses in Ohio. The project will serve 16,938 undergraduate students, 1,598 graduate students, and 5,347 faculty and staff, including more than 720 military-affiliated students, through behavioral health promotion, suicide and substance use prevention, help-seeking, resilience, social connectedness, and lethal-means safety. Strategies include needs assessment; behavioral health screening and assessment; a Community Stakeholder Collaboration Plan; an Integrated Crisis and Referral Network; prevention supports; evidence-based gatekeeper and intervention training; outreach and education; and strategies to reduce access to lethal means. Over the project period, Falcons Rising is projected to reach more than 21,000 campus community members, including more than 15,000 students through peer-led programs; provide 2,500 faculty, staff, and students with suicide prevention and mental health awareness messages; and train 1,500 in evidence-based programs such as Question, Persuade, Refer and Mental Health First Aid. Programs will reach at least 350 through life-skills, resilience, and wellness activities, at least 100 students through the Body Project, and at least 800 through Move for Your Mood sessions; well-being coaching will be provided to at least 100 faculty, staff, and students, and at least 800 unique users will visit the well-being room.
