ACMHS National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative – Category III Community Treatment and Service (CTS) Center - The Alaska Child Trauma Center (ACTC) will expand access to evidence-based trauma treatment services for children and youth ages 3–21 who have experienced traumatic events and are experiencing emotional, behavioral, developmental, or functional challenges in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and communities throughout Alaska, including rural and remote areas. ACTC will provide trauma-informed screening, comprehensive assessment, family engagement, care coordination, and individualized treatment in clinics, schools, an intensive outpatient program, and a homeless youth shelter. Interventions will include Attachment, Regulation, and Competency; Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Conduct Problems; Parent-Child CARE; and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. ACTC will screen 1,000 children and youth annually and 5,000 over five years, provide 800 trauma-informed assessments annually and 4,000 over five years, and provide trauma-focused treatment to 300 children, youth, and families annually and 1,500 over five years. Co-occurring behavioral health conditions will be assessed for 100% of youth receiving treatment, and at least 75% of youth completing services will demonstrate improvement in trauma-related symptoms, behavioral health conditions, functioning, and caregiver-reported outcomes. ACTC will also train 40 providers annually in evidence-based trauma treatment, train 100 professionals annually in trauma-informed care, and provide five graduate-level internship placements annually.
