CARE Connect (Connection, Attachment, Regulation, and Empowerment) - MHMR of Tarrant County will implement CARE Connect (Connection, Attachment, Regulation, and Empowerment), a trauma-focused Community Treatment and Service Center for children and youth ages 0–17 in Tarrant County, Texas. The county is home to approximately 541,880 children and youth under age 18. CARE Connect will serve 375 unduplicated participants over five years: 50 in Year 1, 65 in Year 2, 80 in Year 3, and 90 annually in Years 4–5. The project will serve children and youth affected by traumatic stressors, including adverse childhood experiences, abuse, neglect, family or community violence, traumatic grief, relational trauma, and foster care or juvenile justice involvement. Services will include trauma screening and assessment, care management, individual and family therapy, caregiver support, Trust-Based Relational Intervention-informed treatment, TBRI Camps, workforce development, and care coordination. Making Sense of Your Own Worth groups may be offered as an ancillary engagement and skill-building strategy. CARE Connect will screen and assess 100% of participants, improve trauma-related outcomes for at least 70% of participants and caregivers, train at least 150 professionals in trauma-informed practices, and strengthen coordination among behavioral health, healthcare, education, child welfare, juvenile justice, and community partners.
