This project titled Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for Children and Adolescents of Puerto Rico to be conducted at the Institute for Psychological Research of the University of Puerto Rico is intended to offer TF-CBT for children and adolescents 6 to 17 years old and psychoeducation to parents and personnel from organizations that serve them in the municipalities of San Juan, Bayamon, Carolina, Guaynabo, Trujillo Alto, Catano, and Caguas. The project aims are to 1) offer psychoeducation workshops on childhood trauma to parents and organizations personnel, 2) identify youth who have been exposed to traumatic events and present symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, or behavior problems, 3) provide TF-CBT to youth with trauma-related symptoms, 4) assess symptoms change through the therapeutic process, and 5) train qualified psychotherapists on TF-CBT. Participants will be recruited from organizations that serve them and will complete a screening and pre-treatment evaluation to determine their eligibility for TF-CBT. During-treatment evaluations will be carried out to assess symptoms change. We expect to offer TF-CBT to 240 child-parent dyads in the project lifetime (48 dyads per year) and trauma psychoeducation to 1,125 child service providers and caregivers (225 per year). At least 24 psychotherapists will be trained in TF-CBT in two cohorts at years 1 and 3 by a certified trainer from the Child Abuse and Research Education and Service Institute at Rowan University
