The Prestera Center CCBHC/Service Expansion Grant will improve access to services by integrating behavioral health and primary care services, expanding adult and child psychiatric services, and growing community services to improve social determinants of health, including transportation, employment and homeless services, offered without regard to an individual’s ability to pay. The project also includes obtaining Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic status in Cabell and Kanawha Counties within four months and throughout the Prestera service area (8 counties total) within one year. Technical assistance funding will support data system improvements and training in evidence-based practices and supports for military personnel. Compared to West Virginia and the US, the area has a high number of residents with mental health needs (20.6 % of residents experienced a mental illness in one year). Over 3,000 un-duplicated clients will receive project services over two years.
