Pecan Valley Centers' CCBHC Expansion program will significantly improve the lives of the individuals served in our region. According to FY2019 data, Pecan Valley Centers served 5,214 adults and 1,020 youth with a serious mental illness. Of these individuals, 63% are uninsured and/or designated as low income, and 24% have Medicaid/Medicare. Of the six counties in Pecan Valley Centers' region, five are identified as being mental health professional shortage areas. There are a variety of mental health professionals in our catchment area, but most do not accept Medicaid/Medicare, or offer a sliding scale. Pecan Valley Centers plans to serve this population by implementing a variety of services to those that are uninsured and/or low income, or those that have Medicaid/Medicare. Pecan Valley Centers plans to implement a variety of services, like Care Coordination, Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Services, Certified Peer Providers Specialists, and Promotora Services. The primary goal of Care Coordination is to help mental health clients with high-risk co-occurring health conditions and/or housing/employment issues access appropriate referrals and follow through with them. The primary goal of outpatient substance use treatment services is to help residents in the service area recover from substance use disorders, maintain sobriety, and lead productive lives. The primary goal of Certified Peer Support services is to help clients across the service region recover from mental illness and successfully navigate the treatment system by working with Certified Peer Support Specialists who have a shared lived experience that includes successful recovery. The primary goal of Promotora services is to increase health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, patient navigation and follow-up, community health education and information, informal counseling, social support, and advocacy for the Hispanic community. Pecan Valley Centers anticipates serving 3740 unduplicated individuals over the lifetime of the grant. With Care Coordination, Pecan Valley Centers estimates that 1000 unduplicated individuals will be served annually. With Outpatient Substance Use Disorder services, Pecan Valley Centers estimates that 140 unduplicated individuals will be served annually. With Certified Peer Support Specialist services, Pecan Valley Centers estimates that 180 unduplicated individuals will be served annually. With Promotora services, Pecan Valley estimates that 550 unduplicated individuals will be served annually. Pecan Valley Centers anticipates that providing the above services will improve the lives of the individuals identified in the population of focus.
