Two Feathers Native Connections is a proposal by Two Feathers Native American Family Services in partnership with the Klamath Trinity Joint Unified School District, the Hoopa Valley Tribal Education Department and Stanford Schools of Psychiatry and Education, to develop, systematize, and sustain, school based suicide and substance use prevention efforts through the development and implementation of a strategic plan and standards of care for American Indian students served by the school district. Goals fo the project include: 1. The development and implementation of a community mental health awareness and substance use prevention community readiness assessment and strategic plan; 2. The development and implementation of standards of care protocols in the school community based on the Multi-Tiered System of Support Model and Community Readiness Assessment, with protocols for universal standards of care, selected standards of care for at risk students and targeted intensive standards of care for high risk students; and, 3. Implementation of a tiered system of training in support of a comprehensive approach to suicide and substance us prevention and intervention in the school community.
