LBDHHS Community Crisis Response Program - The City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services will continue and enhance its Community Crisis Response Program, a health-led mobile response serving Long Beach, California, population approximately 450,000. Operating Monday–Friday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., multidisciplinary teams of behavioral health professionals and public health nurses will respond to eligible 9-1-1, community-partner, and direct referrals for nonviolent behavioral health, substance use, homelessness-related, and quality-of-life crises. During the 1-year project, the program will serve approximately 1,000 unduplicated youth, adults, and older adults, including veterans, people experiencing homelessness, individuals involved with social service systems, and others facing barriers to traditional care. Services will include crisis intervention, behavioral health assessment, de-escalation, safety planning, care coordination, referrals to behavioral health and substance use treatment, housing navigation, resource connection, follow-up, and naloxone distribution when appropriate. The project will improve timely access and connections to behavioral health, substance use, housing, medical, and social services; strengthen coordination among health, dispatch, police, fire, and community partners; and support quality improvement through data collection, performance monitoring, and evaluation.
