The Peoria Crisis Response Program will serve tribal citizens across Ottawa County, Oklahoma. Administered through the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, the grant will help grow regional partnerships to provide increased access to community-based resources for suicide prevention and substance use disorders and overdose prevention education. Regionally, there has been an increase in suicides and substance misuse coupled with low treatment rates which highlights the need for increased awareness of the 988 Lifeline in Oklahoma. The purpose of the project is to educate and equip the community and healthcare practitioners how best to respond to suicide and substance misuse by increasing regional knowledge of 988 and access to treatment, raising awareness of existing resources, and encouraging sustainable, trauma-informed recovery networks and referral processes. The proposed multi-year program will be heavily informed by strategic partnerships and engagement with behavioral health partners which will be imperative to its success and sustainability. For the duration of the grant, staff will work closely with the evaluation team to gather data, evaluate efficacy of trainings, and provide reports to illustrate impact and utilize the Process Improvement Model to ensure metrics are being met.
