The Maternal Mental Health program is a Harris County Public Health initiative aimed at improving the mental health outcomes of birthing persons by serving 400 unduplicated birthing persons and families who are at-risk for perinatal mood disorders and comorbidities. The primary goal of the program is to improve maternal mental health outcomes by identifying risk factors such as toxic stress and family history, reducing the incidence of postpartum depression and anxiety, supporting the modern family surrounding the birthing person, and improving bonding and attachment between birthing persons and their infants. The program will increase access to comprehensive maternal mental healthcare for birthing persons and their families and increase mental health provider capacity. Through partnerships with local healthcare providers and community organizations, the program strives to identify at-risk birthing persons and provide them with the necessary resources and support to promote mental wellness. The program will offer a range of services, including counseling, peer support groups, access to a remote patient care health platform, and access to education on perinatal mood disorders. Goals: 1. Increase access to mental health services for mothers during and after pregnancy 2. Increase access to mental health services for family members of the mother during and after pregnancy. 3. Increase knowledge about mental health services offered to families 4. Increased access to care regarding social and support services 5. Increase the capacity of trained maternal mental health professionals 6. Provide health care professionals with an educational toolkit to screen, recognize and provide navigation for mental health needs
