The purpose of this project will be to enhance and expand prevention efforts within Operation UNITE's 32-county service area through school-based UNITE Clubs and community coalitions. - The purpose of this project will be to enhance and expand prevention efforts within Operation UNITE's 32-County service area through their established school-based drug prevention clubs and their community anti-drug coalitions. UNITE will conduct rallies to motivate youth into action by joining their existing UNITE Club or by organizing a new club in schools that do not currently have clubs. Project will allow development of a educational media campaign to reduce the incident of youth ATOD. UNITE will conduct educational forums for community coalition officers to further develop the media campaign message that will include activities to expand community strategies to reduce the incidence of substance misuse in the service area. UNITE will contract with a certified prevention specialist to research and help implement prevention strategies in both the school and community settings. UNITE will contract with an evaluators to assure identified goals and objectives are achieved. UNITE will contract and consult with media experts in the development of a campaign message and with strategies involved in the launch of such message. UNITE requests $500,000 in SAMHSA funding to fund this project.
