The Mino-Bimaadiziwin Prevention Program goal is to increase community awareness and education on Anishinaabe centered prevention, treatment and recovery practices, expand the use of MAT services by representing Anishinaabe culture throughout OUD treatment, build up Anishinaabe systems of support tribal wide to increase access to recovery services, and increase harm reduction techniques and activities throughout the Lac Courte Oreilles Community.
The proposed project will work in conjunction with LCO Community Health Center the Bizhiki Wellness Center, including all vested programs within the Lac Courte Oreilles service area, to expand treatment options with the addition of a SUD Counselor in addition to preexisting services to give a full circle and family centered approach to meet the needs of individuals suffering OUD, in recovery and their families impacted by their OUD as well. Interweaving cultural practices and activities into the Mino Bimaadiziwin Prevention Program and providing increased harm reduction activities and services to all community members to support the health and well-being of Lac Courte Oreilles tribal members and families.
