The Ely Shoshone Tribe is applying for the 2023 Special Diabetes program for Indians in the amount of $250,772.00 during January 1 to December 31, 2023 Our program emphasizes on diabetes prevention and complication reduction. Ely Shoshone Tribe encourages physical activity through dance, gym, swimming, karate and organized sports. We emphasize complication reduction with proper adherence to treatment protocol, foot, dental and eye exams, and encourage goal achievement to diabetes A1C. We also try to include community awareness and involvement through annual fun run/walks, that gets the conversation and excitement going about healthy eating and active lifestyles.
