The Community Health and Wellness Division oversees the SDPI Grant which focuses on culturally-centered approaches to healthy lifestyles. Our primary objectives are to offer courses of nutrition education and exercise physiology which encourages healthy meal preparation and activity. We set goals for our participants to lose 5-7% of their total body weight to reduce the likelihood of diabetes and/or pre-diabetes. We also add traditional and locally sourced food systems to promote strong cultural identities and confidence in healthy lifestyles.
