The Quartz Valley Indian Reservation (QVIR or“the Tribe”), a federally recognized Indian Tribe comprised of the Karuk and Shasta culture groups. The Tribe currently has approximately 351 enrolled members and since regaining federal recognition as an Indian Tribe in 1983, QVIR's accomplishments include the construction of administrative facilities, a Community Resource Center, 32 homes, a gymnasium,
a fire station, and a tribal health clinic. The Tribal departments include a tribal Environmental Protection Agency, Education Department, Indian Child Welfare, Social Services, and the Anav Tribal Health Clinic.
