Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending - Non-Construction - The Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas (CSCLV), at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) provides directs support to the education & practice of core competencies for over 1,000 nursing students annually. We provide extended simulation & healthcare practice of skills and competencies to our nursing, dental, physical therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral health, and public health students. This project directly supports UNLV’s Top Tier goal to create an academic health center by providing additional resources to improve quality of education and thereby improving patient outcomes and patient safety. The CSCLV is committed to delivering the highest quality education for healthcare students and professionals by providing access to state-of-the-art instructional technology and curriculum design within a collaborative and inter-professional framework. Outcomes include improving clinical skills and providing a learning environment that promotes interdisciplinary education in which core concepts of teamwork, leadership, communication, situational monitoring, and mutual support are practice, ultimately providing safe patient care. This project will provide additional simulation mannequins, medical training equipment, and task trainers that will promote quality patient care in students’ practice of crucial core competencies, and improve assessment, diagnoses, evaluation, and practice in many aspects of patient care.
