Rural Communities Opioid Response-Implementation - The Formidable Fourteen Consortium Rural Communities Opioid Response Project has been developed in response to the ongoing damage that opioid and other substances are causing the fourteen rural counties in Nevada. NyE Communities Coalition is joining with coalitions, social service organizations, county government, medical, and public health institutions to expand the opioid use disorder/substance use disorder (OUD/SUD) workforce in medically underserved rural Nevada; and, to decrease death and injury from opioid use disorder /substance use disorder with a special awareness of the impact that mixing fentanyl and psycho stimulants is having on rural Nevada. The consortium will focus on those most impacted by OUD/SUD, and will utilize Community Health Workers as the tools to serve the communities. The consortium will deliver the core activities of the project including securing the support of the communities served by the project, using data to drive the activities, increasing understanding of OUD/SUD, reducing stigma, increasing skills and willingness to prevent an overdose, reducing the likelihood of developing OUD/SUD, and connecting community members to services, resources and treatment; all while performing data collection, avoiding duplication with other funding sources, seeking quality improvement, and ensuring sustainability of successful projects. This project will carry tools, knowledge, skills, and services to “last mile” individuals. Rural frontier community members will be provided and connected to services that sometimes do not reach that far into the remote areas of Nevada. Consortium members will use their connections and associations to ensure that every corner of the state is served and every person has access to help address OUD/SUD.
