Project summary This project is prepared in response to PA-20-272 (Administrative Supplements to Existing NIH Grants and Cooperative Agreements (Parent Admin Supp Clinical Trial Optional). The PI is in no cost extension period of her F32 fellowship, partially supported by funds carried forward from previous years. The PI successfully generated human iPSC-derived cortical spheroids in defined, differentiation-promoting culture medium and investigated the effect of ethanol on early brain development. We have assessed the effects of ethanol on cortical development by monitoring cell death, morphological change, cellular proliferation, and the progenitor cell population with an emphasis on outer radial glia-like cells in the spheroids at cellular level. This proposed administrative supplement will allow the PI completing analysis of acquired RNA sequencing data in preparation of future manuscript. This administrative supplement will also provide the necessary resources allowing an orderly completion of the parent project.
