The goal of the program is to increase the capacity of RBHC in injury prevention through the development and implementation of an injury prevention program on the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation. - Project Summary The Rocky Boy Health Center (RBHC) is applying for Part 1 funding under the Tribal Injury Prevention Cooperative Agreement Program (TIPCAP). The goal of the RBHC TIPCAP program is to increase the capacity of RBHC in injury prevention through the development and implementation of an injury prevention program on the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation. The RBHC TIPCAP will address fall prevention through home assessments and modifications. The objectives of the program are: Objective 1: Hire one (1) full-time Public Health Injury Prevention Coordinator to implement a five-year injury prevention program on the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation. Objective 2: Develop and maintain one (1) comprehensive evaluation plan for collecting data which will be used for setting priorities, program planning, and evaluating interventions focused on injury prevention in the Rocky Boy community. Morbidity and mortality injury data collected under the evaluation plan will be utilized to develop a five-year strategic plan. Objective 3: Conduct at least 30 home assessments annually. Complete at least 15 home modifications annually. Objective 4: Develop one (1) Injury Prevention Coalition who will share resources and expertise during monthly coalition meetings throughout the 5-year project period. Coalition partners will collaborate in planning, implementing, and evaluating injury prevention strategies. Primary outcomes of the project are: One (1) full-time Injury Prevention Coordinator hired; one (1) comprehensive evaluation plan for collecting data developed and maintained; one (1) five-year strategic plan developed and implemented; at least 150 home assessments conducted over the five-year project period; at least 75 home modifications completed over the five-year project period; and one (1) Injury Prevention Coalition developed.
