Modernization of Kickapoo Tribal Health Center's Electronic Health Record System to Strengthen Health Management and Service Delivery - The Kickapoo Tribal Health Center (KTHC) is proposing the “Modernization of Kickapoo Tribal Health Center’s Electronic Health Record System to Strengthen Health Management and Service Delivery” under the Indian Health Service (IHS) Tribal Management Grant Program, Opportunity Number: HHS-2025-IHS-TMD-0002. The goal of this three-year, $300,000 project is to strengthen the health management infrastructure of KTHC through the comprehensive upgrade of its current Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. KTHC currently serves over 2,500 eligible Indian Health Service beneficiaries across central Oklahoma. With a growing patient population and expanding service lines—including primary care, behavioral health, public health, chronic disease prevention, and elder nutrition services—KTHC’s outdated EHR system no longer meets the demands for quality, efficient, and integrated patient care. The project will address critical gaps in health information technology by implementing a modern EHR system that enhances data management, billing efficiency, interoperability, and patient care outcomes. The project objectives include completing a full system selection, procurement, and implementation within 36 months; training staff to proficiency; and establishing long-term maintenance and update plans to ensure sustainability. Tangible products will include new operational policies, comprehensive training manuals, and a fully operational upgraded EHR system. The project will be led by experienced administrative, clinical, and IT personnel with oversight by the Health Director and the Kickapoo Tribal Business Committee. This project aligns with the Kickapoo Tribal Health Center’s vision to deliver high-quality, culturally appropriate healthcare services while strengthening the Center’s administrative and technological capacity to better meet the needs of the community.
