TRIBAL RECORDS MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT - The goals for the SBHS records improvement project include the following: i. Create a Medical Records Technician job description whose primary responsibility is to accomplish items ii, iii, iv, and v, described below. ii. Inventory and assess the SBHS program records stored including paper and electronic records, storage systems (file cabinets) and the records room. iii. Create a records management system using best practices, for SBHS program records including paper and electronic records, and ensuring regulatory requirements governing chemical dependency and behavioral health records management are included. iv. Create policies, procedures and processes for the records management system and ensure regulatory requirements governing records storage such as a records retention schedule are included in the policies. Present policies, procedures, and processes for internal review, then to Tribal Council for review and approval. v. Implement records management system within SBHS program and provide review of policies, procedures, and processes to SBHS leadership and staff. Integrate records management system into SBHS employee workflows to ensure system is implemented and followed.
