The Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, a federally recognized tribe located in Anadarko, Oklahoma, is seeking funding for a Tribal Management Grant, Project Type 4 (Health Management Structure), Priority Group III. Federal funding request is for $300,000 for a 3-year project period. Goal: Develop a viable health management organizational structure for the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes in order to provide, improve and expand the Tribe’s ability to address the needs of the target population and provide the highest standard of health care services. Gaps/Need: The Tribe has identified the need to develop a health management system, developing Tribal Health Board Policy and Procedures using proven best-practice models, to establish an effective health governance board whose organizational and operations structure aligns and integrates the various Wichita Tribal health care system components, establishes effective operational controls and is in accordance with national accreditation standards. Project will be carried out with activities within each of the following objectives: Objective 1: Project Initiation - Develop a health management organizational structure within 36 months Objective 2: Develop Tribal Health Board Policy and Procedures Objective 3: Interview, Train and Appoint a 5-member Tribal Health Board Objective 4: Attend on-going strategic planning meetings, trainings, and technical assistance Objective 5: Health Structure Determination to incorporate new health care components with Strategic Plan Development Objective 6: Conduct Program Evaluation/Grant Administration activities/Successful Grant Closeout Outcomes: The project will result in development and approval of Health management policies and procedures, a revised organizational chart that brings all health focused programs under one umbrella of the Tribe. Training will be provided to assure a good understanding of the revised health management structure. Establishing an effective health governance board whose organizational and operations structure aligns and integrates the various Wichita Tribal health care system components, establishes effective operational controls and is in accordance with national accreditation standards will assist the Tribe to provide quality health care services.
