Bronx Health Opportunities Partnership @ Einstein (Bronx HOPE) National Academies The Albert Einstein College of Medicine is proposing to establish a consortium of organizations to increase the diversity of the health care workforce in the Bronx, NY, by assisting students from disadvantaged backgrounds to enter and successfully complete health professions schools, particularly medicine and public health. The consortium shall include Fordham University, Bronx Community College, City College-CUNY, eight Bronx high schools (All Hallows, Academy of Mt. St. Ursula, Cardinal Spellman, Eagle Academy for Young Men, H.E.R.O., K.A.P.P.A., Mount St. Michael Academy, and Pelham Lab), Associated Medical Schools of New York, and Mentoring in Medicine. Bronx HOPE will employ a Diplomats and Ambassadors high-school-to-college-to-health-professions-school approach with the Fordham Science & Technology Entry Program and College Science & Technology Entry Programs for 11th and 12th grade students through four years at Fordham College. Bronx HOPE will use Health Careers Opportunity Structured Programs, including Summer College and High School Programs, high school Saturday Academies, Prematriculation Programs, and Post-Baccalaureate Programs sponsored by City College and the University of Buffalo through AMSNY. Clinical exposure will resume post-pandemic with our collegiate summer programs and Bronx Community Health Leaders. High school health careers fairs will be used to recruit new students. By working with four all-male high schools Bronx HOPE will address the severe shortage of male health professionals, especially physicians, in the Bronx.
