Campesinos Sin Fronteras (CSF) and its partners Sunset Community Health Center and Yuma County Farmworker Service Coalition propose to implement the Salud Para Todos project targeting Hispanic farmworkers of Mexican descent in South Yuma County, Arizona. This US/Mexico border community faces severe economic and social disadvantages, and lacks access to quality health care. The project works to reduce disparities in three health areas: (1) Diabetes (2) Heart disease and stroke (3) Obesity and overweight (among children aged 1 to 19). The goal of Salud Para Todos is to reduce obesity and chronic disease in the Hispanic US/Mexico border community of South Yuma County, AZ through an integrated family-based prevention program and by improving access to health care. Salud Para Todos builds upon CSF?s experience with the cardiovascular disease prevention project Alma, Corazon, y Vida funded through OMH?s Community Programs to Improve Minority Health.
