Project title not provided - Gallup Community Health (GCH) requests $750,000 in Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending (CPF/CDS) to purchase moveable medical equipment that will establish an in-house Urology Specialty Clinic within its existing facility at 2111 College Drive, Gallup, New Mexico, in McKinley County. GCH is a physician-founded, community-based primary care organization created to expand access to care in Gallup and McKinley County — a medically underserved area with a large American Indian (Navajo and Zuni) population and high rates of poverty, diabetes, and chronic kidney and urologic disease. Residents currently travel long distances for urologic diagnosis and treatment, which leads to delayed care, missed appointments, and avoidable complications. CPF/CDS funds will be used to purchase loose, non-fixed, portable equipment with a useful life of more than one year and to support the planning, training, start-up, and relocation activities needed to place that equipment into service. No equipment requires a change to the utilities or structural characteristics of the facility. The equipment package ($283,000) will outfit exam and procedure rooms within existing GCH space and includes portable ultrasound with urologic probes, a multichannel urodynamics system, uroflowmetry, a single-use (disposable) cystoscopy system, an electrosurgical generator, ADA-compliant power exam tables, a mobile patient (Hoyer) lift and other accessibility equipment, and clinical workstations. Vendor-provided operator training is included within the equipment purchase contracts. With this equipment, GCH will deliver local diagnostic and procedural urology services (bladder-function testing, cystoscopy, and related follow-up care) for an estimated 600 patients annually. The project will reduce travel burden, shorten time to diagnosis, and expand specialty-care access for a predominantly rural, underserved, and Native population. Accessibility equipment such as ADA-compliant exam tables and a patient lift ensures the clinic can serve patients with disabilities and limited mobility. The budget totals $750,000: $283,000 for equipment, $75,000 for administrative and legal costs, $42,000 to relocate the displaced Finance/Billing function, and $350,000 for planning, training, and start-up. GCH will provide ongoing clinical staffing through its own non-federal resources. GCH anticipates deploying all equipment for patient use within 12 months of award.
