Congressionally Directed Spending for Construction Projects - Project Abstract for Expansion of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Services Facility Project Title: Expansion of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Services Facility Organization: Amador Health Center, Inc. Project Location: 999 W. Amador Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88005 Project Duration: September 30, 2024 - September 29, 2027 Funding Amount: $780,000 Project Description: Amador Health Center seeks to expand its existing facility by 1,300 square feet to enhance its capacity to provide critical mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) services to the local community. This project, funded by a $780,000 grant through the HRSA Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending (CPF/CDS) program, will address the growing demand for these essential services in our area. The expansion will include adding new counseling rooms, an expanded lobby area, and bathrooms, allowing us to serve more clients and offer a broader range of services. Once the new space is constructed, part of the existing space can be converted into a group therapy room and program offices for the substance use recovery program. The increased space will also support integrating advanced telehealth technologies, ensuring that clients in remote areas can access the same high-quality care as those who can visit the facility in person. Project Scope: • Design and Construction: o Additional 1,300 square feet to the existing facility. o New counseling rooms for more individual therapy sessions. o A lobby/waiting area with modern bathrooms for clients. o The new construction will allow the retrofit of existing spaces into a group therapy room and substance use recovery program space. • Site Improvements: o Includes necessary modifications to the building exterior and site to support the new construction, including HVAC upgrades and enhanced accessibility features. Project Goals: • Increase service capacity: By expanding the facility, we aim to reduce waiting times and allow us to serve double or triple the number of clients we now see. • Enhance service quality: The new space will allow for a more comfortable and therapeutic environment, promoting better client outcomes. • Expand service range: With additional space, we can introduce new programs and services tailored to the needs of our community, including specialized group therapies and telehealth services. Impact on the Community: This expansion will significantly impact the local community by providing greater access to vital mental health and SUD services. The project aligns with HRSA's mission to improve health outcomes and achieve health equity through increased access to quality services. By addressing the critical need for expanded mental health and SUD treatment capacity, we are committed to fostering a healthier and more resilient community. Conclusion: Amador Health Center is dedicated to improving our community's mental health and well-being. Expanding our facility will enable us to meet the growing demand for mental health and substance use disorder services, providing a supportive and effective treatment environment for all clients. We look forward to the successful implementation of this project with the support of HRSA funding.
