Congressionally Directed Spending for Construction Projects - Neighborhood Healthcare has identified a need for health care services for the underserved population in the city of Corona, located in Riverside County, California. We are seeking to expand our services, and a Community Project Funding grant will help us meet this need by supporting the purchase of moveable equipment. Neighborhood Healthcare (Neighborhood) has addressed patient disparities for more than 50 years, finding ways to reduce barriers to receiving care in Riverside and San Diego Counties. Our mission is to improve the health and happiness of the communities we serve by providing high-quality healthcare to all, regardless of situation or circumstance, guided by a voluntary Board of Directors of whom 51% are patients. As a private, nonprofit, 501(c)3 and a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide a wide range of medical (primary care, women's health, prenatal, pediatrics, and specialized services for older adults, pain management), dental, behavioral health services, chiropractic, acupuncture, and basic pharmacy and lab services and health education, along with programs and resources designed to address the social determinants of health. Community Outreach Workers provide visibility in the community and are trained to assist individuals and families enroll in public health insurance plans and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (CalFresh). Neighborhood also has partnership arrangements with specialty service providers. Neighborhood currently has five health centers in Riverside County, California, located in Temecula (2), Menifee, Hemet, and the City of Riverside. We frequently conduct community needs assessments to determine where we can serve those most in need. In a recent assessment, data indicate a need for health care services in the city of Corona, also located in Riverside County – 23% of the population is low-income, 29.6% have public health insurance, 15.9% of adults are uninsured, and less than 25% of low-income people are served by a health center program. Health and social indicator data for several measures also demonstrate a need for services.
