VNA is seeking funding to support the construction of a new VNA Health Center in Joliet, Illinois to meet the growing healthcare needs of residents of this city which ranks as the third largest city in Illinois, and of those living in neighboring communities. Approximately 21% of this population is low-income, and 66% of these are not served by a Community Health Center. This new location will be used by VNA physicians and nurse practitioners for the delivery of family practice, obstetrics, pediatric, and mental and behavioral health services. This highly accessible health center location will replace an existing small leased location in Joliet, which will improve health equity and access to care for individuals of all ages who have little or no insurance and who are at increased risk of health disparities. This new facility is located on a 7.5 acre plot of land and will span approximately 13,920 square feet. There will be 25 examination rooms, 2 procedure rooms, a behavioral health office, a waiting area to seat 182 people, patient registration, a medication room, a multi-provider office, a conference room, restrooms, a healthcare support function areas and a dispensing Pharmacy, communication, and mechanical spaces. The building will comply with all accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and local building codes. VNA Health Care signage will be installed for street visibility near the entrance of the facility and there will be patient and staff parking and stormwater detention also included in this project. The total square footage for the health center is 13,920 SF and the parking and stormwater detention will be 48,000 square feet giving a total of 61,920 square feet. VNA was founded over 100 years ago and has been certified as a Community Health Center for twenty-one years and is accredited by The Joint Commission as a Primary Care Medical Home. VNA has extensive experience in constructing and operating health centers in which comprehensive and high-quality primary care and enabling services are delivered. Upon completion of this construction project, VNA will integrate this new location into its operating plan and will sustain the operating costs with support from Federal, State, and local funding, in addition to the fee for service reimbursements received from Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care Organizations, Private Insurers, and Self-Pay sources. This Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending (CPF/CDS) Facilities Construction project funded through HRSA in the sum of $500,000 will support this new construction project which is anticipated to cost a total of approximately $7.4 million. This support will enable VNA to minimize the use of the cash reserves which supports the provision of services.
