The land on which the new clinic will be built is 80,000 sq. ft, which is sufficient space to house the new clinic and a parking lot to accommodate patients and visits. The ground disturbance is expected to include the full 95,000 sq. ft. The new construction will be a stand-alone facility on the campus of the old Norman Regional Hospital property. The building will provide 36 medical exam rooms, six behavioral health or nutrition offices, six dental operatories, a pharmacy, and space for Hearts for Hearing, a community collaborating organization. The facility will include a patient waiting area, front desk space, restrooms, healthcare support function areas, communications space, and mechanical spaces. The building will comply with all accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and local building codes. Variety Care will install signage and purchase medical, dental, and office furniture and equipment. Services to be provided include the full scope of primary care, including medical, behavioral health, and dental care, access to the discounted pharmacy through the 340B program, social service referrals, and hearing assessment by community partner Hearts for Hearing. Variety Care’s model focuses on prevention and timely treatment, reduction in the symptoms and causes of chronic illness, and response to public health threats, such as COVID-19. As with all Variety Care locations, the new clinic will serve all who seek care but will focus on serving the uninsured and medically underserved. As a community health center, Variety Care charges based on a patient’s income and the number of persons in the home and does not turn anyone away due to an inability to pay. Existing and new patients are expected to number approximately 20,000 patients.
