This is in response to our community experiencing increased behavioral health need, overwhelmed emergency departments, and a disproportionate amount of individuals in legal custody who are navigating behavioral health diagnoses. The Stabilization Center will leverage existing services – including mobile crisis, detox services, and crisis lines – with the addition of a walk-in clinic and increased stabilization beds to the continuum of crisis response services. Individuals in need will be provided walk-in crisis support 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, including co-occurring capable services, prescriber services, peer-delivered services, and adult and youth crisis stabilization beds for longer term stays. With capacity for 42 individuals at any given time, the Stabilization Center is anticipated to serve 8200 people in need annually. Co-located services allow for increased coordination and rapid access to crisis stabilization support enabling individuals to be connected to the right services, at the right time, via a “no wrong door” approach. This will include dedicated space and access for law enforcement to bring individuals for assessment as a diversion from arrest. The goal of the Stabilization Center is to reduce incarceration, jail time, and ED visits for individuals in behavioral health distress and to relieve the current strain on EMS and healthcare provider resources at Emergency Departments and jails.
