Congressionally Directed Spending for Construction Projects - In light of rising poverty levels and the increasing need for accessible, affordable healthcare, this project aims to establish a secure Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Lakewood Township, New Jersey, an area with a significant underserved population. Situated at 1171 River Avenue, the Lakewood Resource and Referral Center (LRRC) plans to construct a 10,350 square foot FQHC. This new site will provide vital services including Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, OB-GYN, Dentistry, Specialty Care, Pharmacy, health education, and social services. A central component of this project is the installation of a comprehensive security system, which includes video surveillance, access control, intercom, and alarm systems. The necessity for a robust security infrastructure arises from the need to provide a safe and secure environment for patients and staff alike. The Congressional appropriations funding request of $207,000 will enable the LRRC to complete this crucial part of the health center. In a time when community safety is paramount, this investment will ensure that every member of the community can access the medical services they need without fear. This project reflects the Federal government's commitment to facilitating access to quality healthcare for all citizens, regardless of income or demographic factors. By funding the security system, a crucial step towards health equity and community resilience in Lakewood, New Jersey, and beyond will be taken.
