Congressionally Directed Spending for Construction Projects - Project Title: Brockton Neighborhood Health Center Facilities and Equipment Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, 63 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301 Sue Joss, Chief Executive Officer, (508) 894-3203, fax (508) 559-5073 josss@bnhc.org. www.bnhc.org EUI: MN7XK5GAMA21 Community Project Funding, FY 2023—requesting $1,000,000 Project Abstract—Brockton Neighborhood Health Center (BNHC) operates three clinical sites plus a mobile unit in downtown Brockton in neighborhoods that were previously underserved. BNHC provides adult and pediatric primary and urgent care, integrated and outpatient behavioral health, obstetrics and gynecology, an STI clinic, eye, dental, and nutrition services and medication assisted treatment (MAT) to more than 37,000 diverse, low-income patients. As the pandemic was starting in early 2020, BNHC was out of space and starting to plan for a number of major renovations and juggling of departments to increase capacity for clinical services. Most of our expansion planning had to be suspended during the pandemic and the space constraints have become even more acute since that time. To address severe space constraints that are limiting BNHC’s capacity to care for its patients, BNHC is moving non-clinical staff out of the fifth floor of its Main Street site and converting this space to an additional adult primary care pod and also expanding our Harm Reduction Clinic (HRC), which provides Substance Use Disorder (SUD) services. On the fourth floor, BNHC will expand eye services from 10 to 13 eye lanes plus support space. BNHC is requesting $1,000,000 in Fiscal Year 2023 Community Project Funding to support this project, which is estimated at a total cost of $3,897,599. Architectural sketches have already been developed and the project is currently in the design development phase, with the construction document phase expected to start in June 2023. BNHC will be ready to start construction within 30 days of approval of this Community Project Funding. This project will increase access to health care, eye care, and substance use disorder services for the community’s most vulnerable residents. BNHC serves all regardless of ability to pay and provides medical interpreting for individuals with limited English proficiency. More than 80% of the patient population are people of color.
