Community Project Funding/Congressionally Directed Spending - Construction - The proposed project involves implementing bi-directional audiovisual equipment at 218 inpatient beds and 15 nursing hub stations at Unity Hospital in order to facilitate the use of Artisight, an AI-enabled virtual care platform that will allow the hospital to streamline their operations in the following ways: - Virtual nursing: a hub-and-spoke model wherein offsite nurses can assist with patient care virtually and absorb duties typical of a bedside nurse, including recordkeeping and administrative functions, monitoring vital signs, and other patient interactions - Remote patient monitoring: Monitoring a patient’s vital signs and other health indicators remotely, which allows us to streamline nurse rounding and dedicate their focus to patient care - Telehealth: Using bedside technology to connect inpatients to offsite clinicians, specialists, pharmacists, and other providers who can triage or provide care without having to physically relocate the patient out of the hospital setting - Fall prevention: using AI-enabled remote patient monitoring to detect when an elderly or infirm patient is attempting to independently get out of bed, allowing a nurse to intervene before an avoidable fall occurs CDS funds will be deployed to purchase the project’s moveable audiovisual hardware devices (see moveable equipment list), which are used to facilitate the virtual care strategies articulated above. The operating platform that will govern these devices is Artisight, an AI-enabled virtual care solution that infuses virtual connectivity across hospitals and health systems, helping to streamline operations and alleviate burden on nurses and clinicians. Artisight’s annual licensing fees and other ongoing operating costs of this project will be absorbed by Rochester Regional Health, the parent health system of RGH and Unity Hospital. This request aligns with the intent of congressionally directed spending, as it is impactful to the local community and New York State.
