These services include outpatient specialty surgeries, procedural sedation, laparoscopy, pediatric endoscopy or bronchoscopy procedures, dental surgeries, and infusion services. Currently these services are being conducted in a variety of locations, often with adults and children in the same facility. Internal and external research demonstrate that children have better clinical and emotional outcomes in a care setting that is specifically designed for them. By bringing our pediatric population services together in one space, we will best be able to provide a full spectrum of services from specialized ambulatory surgical procedures to Child Life in a safe, nurturing, and efficient environment staffed solely by pediatric trained professionals. This new 7,422 square foot, state-of-the-art Pediatric Ambulatory Surgical Center will house three Hybrid Operating Rooms, one Procedure Room, fifteen Pre & Post OR/Procedure beds, endoscopy, family lounge, and clinical support areas and be fully inclusive for pediatric patients only. The surgical center will support the highly specialized surgical programs we have developed at AdventHealth for Children, including, but not limited to, the Pediatric Head and Neck Tumor Program, Cleft and Craniofacial Program and the Urology program. This center will provide pediatric patients with complex medical needs, with increased access to care, tailored to their unique needs, reducing the need for long inpatient hospital stays and leading to faster recoveries, and designed to restore them to ideal health as soon as possible.
